Understanding the Message of BAKRID

In the Name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
T
he festival of sacrifice - known popularly as Bakrid - is celebrated in commemoration of the great sacrifice of Prophet Abraham (Peace be upon him), an exemplary man who lived 5,000 years ago. Abraham was an intelligent, upright and rationally thinking man. He could not tolerate the superstitious practices of the society in which he was born. His father himself was a chief priest manufacturing and selling idols.
Says the Holy Qurán:
“And recite to them news of Abraham, when he said to his father and people, ‘What do you worship?’ They said, ‘We worship idols and remain to them devoted.’ He said, ‘Do they hear you supplicate? Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?’ They said, ‘But we found our fathers doing this.’” (Qurán 26: 69-75)
Abraham could not accept their answer. He wisely called upon them to reason.
“So when the night covered him, he saw a star. He said, ‘This is my Lord.’ But when it set, he said, ‘I like not those that set.’ And when he saw the moon rising, he said, ‘This is my Lord.’ But when it set, he said, ‘Unless my Lord guides me, I will surely be among the people gone astray.’ And when saw the sun rising he said, ‘This is my lord; this is greater.’ But when it set, he said, ‘O my people! Indeed, I am free from what you associate with Allah. [1]’” (Qurán 6: 76-78)
Abraham openly declared before the worshippers of idols, celestial bodies and false gods that he is not with them.
“‘Indeed, I have turned my face toward Him who created the heavens and the earth, inclining towards truth, and I am not of those who associate others with Allah.’” (Qurán 6: 79)
“[He said]: ‘Do you observe that which you and your forefathers have been worshipping? Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. And when I am ill, it is He who cures me.’” (Qurán 26: 76-81)
Abraham was chosen by Almighty God as His messenger. Like all other messengers of God, he also struggled hard to re-establish DHARMA. That is to call back people to worship the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe. The greatest ADARMA is to worship anything other than Him. In the sight of God Almighty the act of associating or attributing partners to Him or worshipping any of His creations is the greatest sin.
“Verily, joining others in worship with Allah is a great injustice.” (Qurán 31: 13)
The Qur’an also warns this as an unforgivable sin and those who commit this will be eternally in Hell-fire. This is the evil which distorts the concept of real God in human mind and thus makes man fearless to commit sins. Further it divides humanity on the basis of the deity which they worship. This evil is the root cause of the caste-system, untouchability, inequality, exploitation, priesthood and other social evils. In spite of the opposition from his own father and his society, Abraham fought single-handedly against his superstitious society and called them to worship the Creator: In the process he was forced to face several trials and hardships. He was expelled by his father from his home. As Abraham took a firm stand against the worshipping of idols, his father and people together punished him by casting him into a big fire. But God Almighty saved him by His miracle. God ordered:
O fire! Be you cool and safe for Abraham.” (Qurán 21: 69)
Later, Abraham was summoned by the ruler Namrud who had proclaimed god-hood for himself fearing challenge from him. The Qur’an mentions this confrontation thus:
Have you not considered the one who argued with Abraham about his Lord [merely] because Allah had given him kingship? When Abraham said, "My Lord is the one who gives life and causes death," he said, "I give life and cause death." Abraham said, "Indeed, Allah brings up the sun from the east, so bring it up from the west." So the disbeliever was overwhelmed [by astonishment], and Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.” (Qur’an 2: 258)
In spite of all these incidents, there was no significant response to Abraham’s call to worship the Creator. He was forced to emigrate along with his few followers. In later life, Abraham and his family had to undergo several more tests from the Almighty God, for God wished to test the limits of his patient obedience to His commands.
Abraham was asked by God to leave his wife Hajer and suckling son Ishmael in the barren valley at Mecca, where the Ka’aba stands today. At the time that Abraham was asked to do so, there were neither people nor water in that barren land. As they passed the test of patience, God gifted them a well called as zamzam, from which the water flows continuously till now. Next Abraham was asked by God to sacrifice his beloved son. In the Qur’an God mentions:
“And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, ‘O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think.’ He said, ‘O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, of the steadfast.’ And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead, We called to him, ‘O Abraham, You have fulfilled the vision.’ Indeed, we thus reward the doers of good.” (Qurán 37: 102-105)
As they successfully passed this test, God Almighty asked him to sacrifice a ram instead. This great sacrifice of father willing to slaughter his own son is being remembered every year on the day of Bakrid otherwise known as festival of sacrifice.
There is a great lesson for mankind in this sacrifice
We all know that the present life on this earth is temporary. One day this whole world will be destroyed completely by God Almighty. He will resurrect all human beings right from the first to the last man who inhabited this earth. Following this, all of them will be brought before God Almighty for judgment of their deeds on earth. Everyone will be shown their good and bad deeds. Based on the volume of their deeds they will be sent to Paradise for everlasting happiness or sent to Hell for undergoing punishment eternally.
Thus, the present short life is a test which decides our future and eternal abode. Every one of us is given different situations and tested. For example, some are born blind, some with good facilities, some as poor, some as rich, some in a hut and some in a luxurious mansion etc. Our body, wealth, health, relatives and similar other possessions are temporarily given to us as a trust for a certain unknown period. We are not their real owners. The real owner is God Almighty and He has the right to withdraw them at any point of time. Whatever may be our level of attachment to these possessions, we must be ready to part with them whenever He desires. Indeed, He may suddenly withdraw them by way of His putting us to the test.
In the Qurán, God says:
And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient, who, when disaster strikes them, say, ‘Indeed we belong to Allah and, indeed, to Him we will return.’ Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided.” (Qurán 2: 155-157)
Prophet Abraham had undergone the highest forms of such tests. To understand the gravity of the same, just imagine yourself in his place! What would be your reaction if you get such an order from God? Or how would you feel if someone snatches your kid and runs away with him/ her? Or at the sudden death of your mother? You would scarcely bear it, right? But here, Abraham comes forward to slaughter his own son by his own hand! What a sacrifice! What an exemplary act of total obedience to the Creator! It is only normal that in most cases, love, attachments and emotions over-rule human behavior. But Abraham showed mankind that obedience to our Master should come before all other considerations.
Every year, on the occasion of Bakrid, we are reminded of this great lesson. As a small act of sacrifice we are asked by God, in keeping with one’s financial condition, to slaughter an animal on this day. The meat of the slain animal is shared with relatives and the poor in society. Here again, our preparedness to sacrifice for our Creator and Sustainer is being tested as He says in the Qurán:
“Their meat will not reach Allah, nor will their blood, but what reaches Him is piety from you…” (Qurán 22: 37)
Some Doubts and Clarifications
Q: Why should the sacrifice be repeated every year and everywhere? Is not the taking of a life a sin?
A: The word ‘Islam’ means ‘obedience to God’ and ‘Muslim’ means ‘one who is obedient to God.’ The present life is a test in which this obedience of man is tested. Those who pass this test will enter paradise and those who fail in this test will enter hell in the Hereafter. So we have to obey our Creator’s commandments in this world if we are serious about achieving salvation. We have to do whatever our Master has commanded and we have to keep away from deeds which He has prohibited.
The main reason for our sacrificing an animal is the command of the Creator – both ours and the animals - to do so. Here if we perform it we are committing a good deed and if we do not we are committing a sin. The intention behind the act of sacrifice lies in the test of man’s piety as mentioned in the verse quoted above (22:37). This act will enhance the spirit of sacrifice in us and prepare us to bear sudden losses in life, property etc. Sacrificing animals is not a new practice but has been ordained by God through His messengers and Books sent earlier to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as told in the Qurán:
“And for every nation have We appointed a ritual, that they may mention the name of Allah over the beast of cattle that He hath given them for food; and your God is one God, therefore surrender unto Him. And give good tidings (O Muhammad) to the humble.” (Qurán 22: 34)
Q: Is not the taking of a life a sin?
A: The following points may clear the doubt:
1.       Which act is a sin? And which is not? Human beings or any group of human beings cannot decide for themselves as to what does, and does not, constitute a sin since they do not possess the ultimate knowledge of everything. Even if they decide what and what not are sins, their decisions will be influenced by emotions, selfishness, etc. Something good for someone might be bad for others. Something which appears just for someone may be unjust according to others. Whereas God Almighty to whom belongs the universe and all that it contains, is Omnipotent and Omniscient. He knows ultimately what is good and what is bad for His creations. He is the Designer, Planner, Sustainer and Master of the universe. He only knows the ultimate purpose and role of each and every creation in this vast Universe. His knowledge is the most perfect and ultimate. He is the highest Authority to say which is right and wrong or which is just and unjust. Further, He is going to judge our deeds on the Day of Judgment. We have to admit that Whatever He commands us to do are good deeds and whatever He prohibits us from are bad deeds.
2.       The present short and temporary life which we are all undergoing is a test conducted by our Creator. Here we are tested amidst emotions, feelings, hunger, sorrow, happiness, justice, injustice, right, wrong… and so on. The test is whether we are following God’s commandments in all the circumstances we come across in our life time. If we follow Him we are rewarded with Paradise in the hereafter and if we do not follow Him we will be punished with Hell fire. So  it is wise to accept the standards set by Him as the criterion to decide between right and wrong.
3.       God Almighty has revealed to us what is good and what is bad through His Messengers (Rishis) and the Holy books (Vedas) sent through them from time to time. All His Holy Books prohibit killing of life unjustly. The last and final version of His holy books is the Qur’an which say this: “Do not take life, which Allah has made holy except for just (and true) cause...” (Qur’an 17:33). But killing of animals for the sake of food is allowed in all His Holy Books.
4.       Manusmriti, which is considered a holy book by Hindu brethren says: “The diner, if he is a meat consumer, the meat does not harm him, even if he consumes every day. Because it is God who has created some creatures for eating and some as food.” (Manusmriti 5:30)
“Consuming meat is also considered as sacrifice. This is known traditionally as Commandment of God.” (Manusmriti 5:31)
“God has created certain cattle for sacrifice. So slaughtering cattle for sacrificing will not be considered as killing of the cattle. (Manusmriti 5: 39, 4)
Plenty of such references are found in other Hindu Holy scriptures. A few are given below.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Rig Veda: (VIII 42. 1), (X 91. 14.6), (1. 114.101), (5. 29-7), Adarva Veda (X.11. 1.48)
5.       However big or small, visible or invisible the forms of life, all are to be treated alike. Elephant, cow cat, flies, birds, mosquito, bacteria, germs and so on... All of them carry life. To protect only the big and visible ones and to ignore the small and invisible ones is not an act of justice. We have to equally feel pain when we drink as each drop of water contains millions of bacteria. Lakhs of silk worms are killed for the silk industry. Can we stop all this?
6.       Today, it has been scientifically proved that plants are living beings which see, hear and smell. They even have emotions. If we conclude that killing of life is sin, where can we go for food?
7.       In nature, God has created, distributed and perfected every creation in the right proportion. The Qurán says:
“Exalt the name of your Lord, the Most High, Who created and proportioned; And who destined and [then] guided.” (Qurán 87: 1–3)
Manu says, “The law of nature is that the stronger living beings eat the weaker ones. So it is natural to eat meat.”
“God has created moving and unmoving creatures for the purpose of food. Unmoving living beings form the food for moving ones. Toothless creatures are food for the toothed ones. Armless beings are food for the armed ones. Innocent creatures are food for cruel ones.” (Manusmriti V.15)
8.        Tempted by our emotions and shortsightedness if we tamper or disturb the ecological balance set by our omniscient Creator, the consequences will be extremely disastrous. Let’s see a few examples:
a.       If the rapid growth of population of rats is not curtailed by snakes and reptiles which feed on them, it will lead to drastic scarcity of food grains and spread of epidemic diseases.
b.       If deers in jungles were not hunted down by wild animals which feed on them, with the unchecked growth of their population, the plants and trees will be consumed rapidly by them. Thus, the jungles will vanish which leads, in turn, to loss of rain.
c.       A minimum of 3, 84, 000 animals are slaughtered all over the world every day. If the slaughtering is suspended for one month the number of animals for which we have to feed will be 1, 15, 20, 000. The food requirement for them will be 34, 50, 00, 000 Kilograms per month. In the process of meeting this demand for food, the existing food grains, plants and trees will vanish fast. This further stops the rain and the whole earth will become a desert within six months.
9.       By stopping the killing of animals for food, can we afford to lose the following?
a.       In beef export, India occupies eighth place in the world.
b.       By export of leather, foreign exchange earned is Rs. 3, 160 crores and the number of people employed in this industry is 13.5 lakhs.
c.       By export of fish and fish products, exchange earned is Rs. 6, 308 crores.
d.       In silk production, India occupies third place. A lakh of people are employed in this industry. The benefits as well as job opportunities that arise out of such industries are too numerous to be ignored. Further, can we really forego by-products like belts, shoes, bags, purses, detergents, animal feed, pharmaceuticals, tar, heart valves, insulin, pepsin, surgical sutures, medical capsules, glue, fertilizers and so on?
10.     The vitamins (particularly B12) proteins, minerals and other nutrients required for efficient function and stamina of human body are very meager in vegetarian food. Manual workers, farmers and others who exert physically cannot work long hours if they only take vegetarian food.
11.     The human body is so designed by God that it can consume and digest meat. Like herbivorous animals, man is equipped with flat teeth, and like carnivorous animals he also has canine teeth. Our digestive system is also equipped to digest meat.
Those who find faults with the ecological order set by the ultimate wisdom of the Creator and tamper with it are warned by the Creator thus:
“Do no mischief on earth, after it has been set in order…” (Qurán 7: 56)
“… and those who cause mischief in the land, upon them is curse and a evil home (i. e. Hell) is for them.” (Qurán 13: 25)
The Creator and Master of this universe also warns those who ban things which are made lawful by Him:
And do not say about what your tongues assert of untruth, ‘This is lawful and this is unlawful,’ to invent falsehood about Allah. Indeed, those who invent falsehood about Allah will not succeed.  [It is but] a brief enjoyment, and they will have a painful punishment.” (Qurán 16: 116, 117)
On this great occasion let us all come together to understand and practice the real message of Bakrid, that is sacrifice, patience and obedience to our Creator.

[1] Allah is not the personal god of Muslims or an Arabian tribal god as widely misunderstood. In Arabic language it is the proper name of God Almighty, who is the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe.

Alcohol is strictly prohibited by God

You know very well that the present temporary life is a test and the world we live in is the test-field. Here, those who follow God's commandments will be rewarded with Paradise in the life hereafter and those who do not follow will be punished in the Hell.
For the benefit of humanity as a whole and its wellness, God Almighty has prohibited certain things for us to consume. One among them is alcohol. The consumers of them are violating God's commandments and are liable to be punished in the hereafter.

In Holy Qur'an God says:

"O ye who believe! Intoxicants and gambling, (dedication of) stones, and (divination by) arrows, are an abomination,- of Satan's handwork: eschew such (abomination), that ye may prosper. "(Qur'an 5:90)

The Prophet of Islam Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

# "Alcohol is the mother of all evils and it is the most shameful of evils." (Ibn-I-Majah)

# "Anything which intoxicates in a large quantity, is prohibited even in a small quantity." (Ibn-I-Majah)

# That he heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying in the year of the Conquest (of Mecca) while he was in Mecca, "Allah and His Apostle have made the selling of wine (i.e. alcoholic drinks) unlawful."
 (Sahih al-Bukhari 4296)

There is no excuse for a nip or a tot.
Not only those who drink alcohol are cursed but also those who deal with them directly or indirectly are cursed by Allah.
# It was reported by Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said:
"God’s curse falls on ten groups of people who deal with alcohol. The one who distills it, the one for whom it has been distilled, the one who drinks it, the one who transports it, the one to who it has been brought, the one whom serves it, the one who sells it, the one who utilizes money from it, the one who buys it and the one who buys it for someone else."
 (Ibn-I-Majah)

4075. Jabir (Rali) said:
A man came from the "Jishan" in Yemen, and asked the Prophet (pbuh) about a drink that his people had prepared from the corn.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Is it intoxicating?" They asked. He replied, "Yes." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Everything that is intoxicating is forbidden, and Allah has promised that I shall surely feed him with 'deenathul kabbaal'.
People said, "O Messenger of Allah! what is it?" They asked. The Prophet (pbuh) replied, "The sweat of the inhabitants of the hell, or their puss"
Book: 36
So, Let us understand that the present life, when compared the hereafter which is eternal, is like a drop in an ocean and save ourselves from Hell.

# Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given your [full] compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained [his desire]. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion. (Quran 3;185)

BIG BANG AND QURAN

Hubble’s Law

For thousands of years, astronomers wrestled with basic questions concerning the universe.  Until the early 1920’s, it was believed that the universe had always been in existence; also, that the size of the universe was fixed and not changing.  However, in 1912, the American astronomer, Vesto Slipher, made a discovery that would soon change astronomers’ beliefs about the universe.  Slipher, noticed that the galaxies were moving away from earth at huge velocities.  These observations provided the first evidence supporting the expanding-universe theory.[1]

Before the invention of the telescope in 1608, man could do little more than wonder about the origin of the universe. (Courtesy: NASA)

In 1916, Albert Einstein formulated his General Theory of Relativity that indicated that the universe must be either expanding or contracting.  Confirmation of the expanding-universe theory finally came in 1929 in the hands of the well known American astronomer Edwin Hubble.

By observing redshifts[2] in the light wavelengths emitted by galaxies, Hubble found that galaxies were not fixed in their position; instead, they were actually moving away from us with speeds proportional to their distance from earth (Hubble's Law).  The only explanation for this observation was that the universe had to be expanding.  Hubble’s discovery is regarded as one of the greatest in the history of astronomy.  In 1929, he published the velocity-time relation which is the basis of modern cosmology.  In the years to come, with further observations, the expanding-universe theory was accepted by scientists and astronomers alike.

With the Hooker Telescope, Hubble discovered that the galaxies were moving away us.  Above are photos of known galaxies.  (Courtesy: NASA)

Yet, astonishingly well before telescopes were even invented and well before Hubble published his Law, Prophet Muhammad used to recite a verse of the Quran to his companions that ultimately stated that the universe is expanding.

“And the heaven We created with might, and indeed We are (its) expander.” (Quran 51:47)

At the time of the revelation of the Quran, the word “space” was not known, and people used the word “heaven” to refer to what lies above the Earth.  In the above verse, the word “heaven” is referring to space and the known universe.  The verse points out that space, and thus the universe, happens to be expanding, just as Hubble’s Law states.

That the Quran mentioned such a fact centuries before the invention of the first telescope, at a time when there was primitive knowledge in science, is considered remarkable.  This is more so considering that, like many people in his time, Prophet Muhammad happened to be illiterate and simply could not have been aware of such facts by himself.  Could it be that he had truly received divine revelation from the Creator and Originator of the universe?

The Big Bang Theory

Soon after Hubble published his theory, he went on to discover that not only were galaxies moving away from the Earth, but were also moving away from one another.  This meant that the universe happened to be expanding in every direction, in the same way a balloon expands when filled with air.  Hubble’s new findings placed the foundations for the Big Bang theory.

The Big Bang theory states that around 12-15 billion years ago the universe came into existence from one single extremely hot and dense point, and that something triggered the explosion of this point that brought about the beginning of the universe.  The universe, since then, has been expanding from this single point.

Later, in 1965, radio astronomers Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson made a Noble Prize winning discovery that confirmed the Big Bang theory.  Prior to their discovery, the theory implied that if the single point from which the universe came into existence was initially extremely hot, then remnants of this heat should be found.  This remnant heat is exactly what Penzias and Wilson found.  In 1965, Penzias and Wilson discovered a 2.725 degree Kelvin Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation (CMB) that spreads through the universe.  Thus, it was understood that the radiation found was a remnant of the initial stages of the Big Bang.  Presently, the Big Bang theory is accepted by the vast majority of scientists and astronomers.

It is mentioned in the Quran:

“He (God) is the Originator of the heavens and the earth…” (Quran 6:101)

“Is not He who created the heavens and the earth Able to create the likes of them?  Yes; and He is the Knowing Creator. His command is only when He intends a thing that He says to it, ‘Be,’ and it is.” (Quran 36:81-82)

The above verses prove that the universe had a beginning, that God was behind its creation, and all that God needs to do inorder to create is to say “Be,” and it is.  Could this be an explanation as to what triggered off the explosion that brought about the beginning of the universe?

The Quran also mentions:

“Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, then We separated them, and made from water every living thing?  Then will they not believe?” (Quran 21:30)

Muslim scholars who have explained the previous verse mention that the heavens and earth were once one, and then God caused them to separate and form into the seven heavens and Earth.  Yet, due to the limitations of science and technology at the time of the revelation of the Quran (and for centuries to follow), no scholar was able to give much detail about how exactly the heavens and earth were created.  What the scholars could explain was the precise meaning of each word in Arabic in the verse, as well as the overall meaning of the verse.

In the previous verse, the Arabic words ratq and fataq are used.  The word ratqcan be translated into “entity” “sewn to” “joined together” or “closed up”.  The meaning of these translations all circulate around something that is mixed and that has a separate and distinct existence.  The verb fataq is translated into “We unstitched” “We clove them asunder” “We separated” or “We have opened them”.  These meanings imply that something comes into being by an action of splitting or tearing apart.  The sprouting of a seed from the soil is a good example of a similar illustration of the meaning of the verb fataq.

With the introduction of the Big Bang theory, it soon became clear to Muslim scholars that the details mentioned with regards to the theory go identically hand in hand with the description of the creation of the universe in verse 30 of chapter 21 of the Quran.  The theory states that all the matter in the universe came into existence from one single extremely hot and dense point; that exploded and brought about the beginning of the universe, matches what is mentioned in the verse that the heaven and Earth (thus the universe) where once joined together, and  then split apart.  Once again, the only possible explanation is that Prophet Muhammad had truly received divine revelation from God, The Creator and Originator of the universe.

Solution to victims of #MeToo

For the information of the victims of #Metoo, past and present...
Whatever the sinful acts committed by men or women involved on and off the screen are fully available on records. Nothing has vanished!
Are you wondering how are the acts which are done off the screen got recorded?
Yes, they are recorded with the hidden cameras and sensors embedded on your body..
Your eyes, ears, and skin carry them and they are not at all erasable!
If in doubt please refer to the following verses of Qur'an:

And, the Day when the enemies of Allah will be gathered to the Fire while they are [driven] assembled in rows, Until, when they reach it, their hearing and their eyes and their skins will testify against them of what they used to do. And they will say to their skins, "Why have you testified against us?" They will say, "We were made to speak by Allah, who has made everything speak; and He created you the first time, and to Him, you are returned. And you were not covering yourselves, lest your hearing testify against you or your sight or your skins, but you assumed that Allah does not know much of what you do. (Quran 41:19-22)
(Meaning of the word Allah is 'One and the only One God who deserves worship')

When will the justice be done?
The grievance of victims may or may not be addressed here in the courts available now. But it will be definitely addressed on the Day of Judgement according to Quran:
"Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given your [full] compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained [his desire]. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion." (Quran 3:185)

Can you say little more convincingly?
Yes, if you ponder over the complex structure of this vast universe and realize man’s insignificant status here you will definitely realize that the temporary life we live now is with a purpose as conveyed by the Messengers of God and the Holy Scriptures sent through them. They teach us that the whole world will come to an end one day. All the human beings, right from the first man to the last will be brought back to life (Resurrection) on the Day of Judgment and will be questioned for their deeds. People who have done good deeds and lived a life in accordance with God’s command will receive a reward and people who have disobeyed God will be punished. The reward will be Heaven and the punishment will be Hell. The life in Heaven and Hell will be eternal and never-ending.

What are good deeds and what are bad?

For the peaceful existence of mankind in this world, God Almighty has commanded us to do certain things and they are known as good deeds (Punya) and God has banned us from certain other deeds and they are known as bad deeds (paapa). They can be learned from the Holy scriptures sent by Him and from the teachings of His Messengers.  Latest in the serial of Messengers of God, to come to this world, is Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the Holy scripture sent through him is the Holy Quran.

Is adultery a sin according to Quran?
As per the above resources, the Master of the universe prescribes behavioral code for both men and women. Purpose of it is to protect society as a whole and promote modest behavior. It creates a barrier between the sexes and allows us to conduct our lives with modesty, dignity, and respect.  Any violation of this codes creates havoc, immorality, and disorder in the society, and hence punishable by Him (God).
= As per the behavioral code, the free mingling of women with men, other than the close relatives like the husband, father, brother, son, uncle etc., is prohibited.
= The sexual relationship is allowed only between husband (male) and wife (female).
= Any male-female sexual relationship beyond marriage bonds is strictly prohibited and hence severely punishable by God Almighty.
= Any kind of meeting, chatting, mingling or caressing with any stranger of opposite sex in privacy or even in public is illicit.
= It is also one of the responsibilities of the state to punish, in front of the public, the culprits who commit adultery and theft.

What is the punishment for the violators?
The violation, as we are aware, will ruin discipline in the family life and in the society and currupt the morality of people. But the transgressors may or may not get affected by the evil effects of their violation in this world. But they are sure to be caught for their offence on the Day of Judgment.
The Holy Quran says: "So whoever does an atom’s weight of good, will see it; and whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it (too)." (Quran 99: 7, 8)
On that day every small and big offense will be exposed.  The very parts of body will speak against the offenders!
= That Day, We will seal over their mouths, and their hands will speak to Us, and their feet will testify about what they used to earn. (Quran 36:65)

After weighing the deeds, Hell will be awarded for sinners and Paradise, for the people who followed God’s path. To know what Hell and Paradise are, go through the Holy Quran, the last revelation from God Almighty. For example please read the verses below:

= Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait for the transgressors, a place of return, in which they will remain for ages [unending]. They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink except scalding water and [foul] purulence -An appropriate recompense. (Quran 78:21-26)

And say, "The truth is from your Lord, so whoever wills - let him believe, and whoever wills - let him disbelieve." Indeed, We have prepared for the wrongdoers a fire whose walls will surround them. And if they call for relief, they will be relieved with water like murky oil, which scalds [their] faces. Wretched is the drink, and evil is the resting place. (Quran 18:29)

How are the righteous rewarded?
As for those who had led a life of discipline as commanded by God, they will be in eternal bliss…
Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds - indeed, We will not allow to be lost the reward of any who did well in deeds. Those will have gardens of perpetual residence; beneath them, rivers will flow. They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and will wear green garments of fine silk and brocade, reclining therein on adorned couches. Excellent is the reward, and good is the resting place. (Quran 18:30,31)
Is there any chance for the sinners to get their sins forgiven?
Yes, Definitely God almighty is Oft-forgiving and most merciful. He accepts all sincere repentance from His slaves.
= Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful." (Qur'an 3953)

Who created the Creator?

Muslims believe in the Absolute Oneness of God, Who is a Supreme Being free of human limitations, needs and wants. He has no partners in His Divinity. He is the Creator of everything and is completely separate from His creation, and all worship is to be directed towards Him alone.
as a Muslim i believe :
1. Allah/God the Creator is One
2. Allah/God is the First with no beginning and the Last with no end. Everything in the universe was created by His will. He is not confined by space or time and He is the only One who is in control and provides for His creation.
3. Allah/God alone is the Almighty, the Creator, the Sovereign, and the Sustainer of everything in the whole universe. He manages all affairs. He stands in need of none of His creatures, and all His creatures depend on Him for all that they need.
4. Allah/God is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing, and the All-Knowing. In a perfect manner, His knowledge encompasses all things, the open and the secret, and the public and the private. He knows what has happened, what will happen, and how it will happen.
5. Allah/God is the Self-existent Who was not given life, cannot be caused to die or brought back to life by anyone else.
God is eternal, without beginning or end, and is thus a Unique Being who has no equal. see Quran Chapter 112.
In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.
(( 1. Say, “He is God, the One.
2. God, the Absolute.
3. He begets not, nor was He begotten.
4. And there is nothing comparable to Him.” ))
This is a clear statement by God describing Himself to humanity without any room for confusion. God is One and is exalted above everything He creates.
This chapter of the Quran is about the oneness of God. The concept of God has been presented here in its purest form, ridding it of all polluting associations which people of every age have brought to it. There is no plurality of gods. There is only one God. All are dependent upon Him, but He is not dependent on anybody. He Himself has power over everything. He is far above being the progeny of anybody or having any offspring. He is such a unique being that there is nobody like Him or equal to Him in any manner whatsoever.
The doctrine of God’s pure unity, or The Divine oneness, is clearly stated here: God is not many , He is only One. Everyone is in need of Him ,but He is not in need of anyone. He reigns over all things of the heavens and the earth. Unlike human beings , He has no son or father. He is eternal ,without beginning or end, and is thus a Unique Being who has no equal.
This Chapter has been called the essence of the Quran. The prophet Muhammad, Peace Be Upon Him, once described this Chapter as
“ equivalent to one-third of the whole Quran ”{ Bukhari and Muslim }
6. Allah/God is the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, and the Most Beneficent.
If someone wants something from God, he or she can ask God directly without asking anyone else to intercede with God for him or her.
7. Who created God the creator?answer : one of the characteristics of the creator itself is that he is not created…If the creator was created it automatically means it’s not the creator. the creator is eternal, without beginning or end.
{ He begets not, nor was He begotten } 112:3
The names and attributes of God include the “Life-giver” and “Death-causer”. The Lord and Creator of this universe surely has the ability to cause His Creatures to die and bring them back to life just as He had already created them. It is He Who gives life to others, causes them to die and brings them back to life. Moreover, He is the Self-existent Who was not given life, cannot be caused to die or brought back to life by anyone else. as a Muslim i believe :
- God is One
- God is eternal, without beginning or end, and is thus a Unique Being who has no equal.
Fully accepting the oneness of God is to accept that He is distinct from everything else. It would not suit God’s majesty and glory to associate the limited attributes of His creation to Him because He is not restricted in any way, while His creation is. He is the First with no beginning and the Last with no end. Everything in the universe was created by His will. He is not confined by space or time and He is the only One who is in control and provides for His creation.
By definition creation is in need of a creator. For created beings to exist they must have a creator to bring them into existence.
You Alone we worship, and you Alone we ask for help )
The Quran 1:5–6
the primary pillar of Islamic belief clearly states that there is nothing worthy of worship except Allah/God. Associating partners with God or attributing qualities of lesser beings to Him is considered to be the greatest sin in Islam.
No one has the right to be invoked, supplicated, prayed to, or shown any act of worship, but God alone. God alone is the Almighty, the Creator, the Sovereign, and the Sustainer of everything in the whole universe. He manages all affairs. He stands in need of none of His creatures, and all His creatures depend on Him for all that they need. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing, and the All-Knowing. In a perfect manner, His knowledge encompasses all things, the open and the secret, and the public and the private. He knows what has happened, what will happen, and how it will happen. No affair occurs in the whole world except by His will. Whatever He wills is, and whatever He does not will is not and will never be. His will is above the will of all the creatures. He has power over all things, and He is able to do everything. He is the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, and the Most Beneficent. In one of the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad , we are told that God is more merciful to His creatures than a mother to her child. God is far removed from injustice and tyranny. He is All-Wise in all of His actions and decrees. If someone wants something from God, he or she can ask God directly without asking anyone else to intercede with God for him or her.
Allah, God knows best.

al-akhir The Last is one of the 99 names of Allah :
  • The One who remains after all of creation has passed away.
  • The One who is the last, the conclusion, the ultimate.
  • The One who is behind all of creation.
  • The One beyond whom there is nothing.
