The Quran is a compilation of guidance sent by God through His final messenger, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), to show humanity the right path in this world. In this Quran, God explains the relationship between Himself and humans, the purpose of life, the stages that a person will go through, the final judgment, the afterlife, heaven, hell, and various matters related to humanity as revealed through His messenger. Readers may notice that the Holy Quran is on a unique level compared to other books written by humans. The main reason for this is the significant difference between its Author and its readers.
Characteristics of the Author
What kind of person is the author of the Holy Quran? In various verses throughout the Quran, God mentions His attributes. For example, consider the following verses:
2:255 Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.3:6 It is He who forms you in the wombs however He wills. There is no deity except Him, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
(Allah means the only God worthy of worship)
The true status and knowledge of the readers
Before understanding the verses of the Holy Quran, we, the readers, should remind ourselves about our actual status:
= We are like a tiny particle stuck to the earth, one of the billions of such balls spread out in this vast universe. The life of each of us is as insignificant as a bubble of water.
= We do not have even a single iota of our contribution in their creation, movement or control of this universe.
= Not only that, our body, matter, spirit, which we call ours, are not actually ours, and we do not have complete control over them.
Our coming and going here - that is, our birth and death - do not happen according to our will.
= Our knowledge is what our ancestors have collected so far, what they have understood as a result of the research carried out by humanity so far, what they have shared to us, what we have learned based on the information we ourselves have known through the five senses, and many more. Even if all of these were gathered in one place, there is no way to say that it is complete knowledge about the universe.
The Reality of Science
= We know that the powerful tools of science in this vast universe can only reach a certain limit. No human being can claim to know everything beyond them, except to a certain extent. Similarly, no human being or group of human beings or scientific research institutions can claim to know everything in this world completely. If anyone says so, it is clear that it is a lie and a manifestation of ignorance based on the above reasons! Regarding the definition of knowledge we obtain, we can see that God says in the verse of the Holy Quran (2:255) quoted above:
“...He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills..”
= Science admits that it does not know what is not within its scope and calls them dark energy and dark matter. Dark energy (74%) and dark matter (22%) occupy about 96% of the universe within the scope of scientific research. If we look at other objects, the gas layer between the galaxies accounts for 3.6% and the luminous objects and stars in the universe account for only 0.4%.
The statement of Yushidi Kusan, director of the Tokyo Astronomical Observatory in Japan, is noteworthy here:
“I am very surprised to find astronomical facts in the Quran. I am fascinated. As modern astronomers, we are only exploring a very small part of the universe. We are concentrating all our efforts on understanding a small part. Because we can only see a few parts of the sky through telescopes. It is impossible to imagine the entire universe. I believe that by reading the Quran and finding answers to questions, I can see the future direction of my research into this universe.
Therefore, honest rationalists will realize that all these things are created, maintained and controlled by a power beyond our control. We call that power as God. The Holy Quran calls that God as Allah in Arabic.
Therefore, first of all, since He is the Master and we are slaves, we have no power to question Him or suggest anything else to His plans, and we do not have the knowledge and power to do so. Those who do not think about these facts and do not realize their weakness and insignificance and consider themselves superior are overcome by egoism. When such people approach the Holy Quran, they do not benefit from that divine blessing. Since they reject the guidance of the Creator, they do not succeed in the test of life!
6:21 And who is more unjust than one who invents about Allah a lie or denies His verses? Indeed, the wrongdoers will not succeed.6:157 ...Then who is more unjust than one who denies the verses of Allah and turns away from them? We will recompense those who turn away from Our verses with the worst of punishment for their having turned away.
